Start with the wall condition, not the color
Check whether the wall is new, previously painted, dusty, chalking, hairline-cracked, greasy, or damp. A good topcoat cannot replace correcting the underlying problem. The surface should be clean, dry, stable, and prepared according to the product's technical instructions before primer, sealer, or finish paint is applied.
If a damp patch keeps returning, locate the water source first. Painting over it alone can allow the problem to return and make later diagnosis harder.

Treat primer, sealer, and finish coat as one system
New walls, alkaline surfaces, chalking old coatings, and stained areas can require different preparation or base coats. Combining products without checking compatibility can reduce adhesion or alter the finish.
Record the surface type, wall age, old-coating condition, indoor or outdoor location, and visible problems. Bring those notes or photos when consulting so primer, sealer, waterproofing, and finish paint can be checked as one system.
Estimate quantity after choosing the specification
Wall area is only the starting point. Coverage per liter, coat count, surface porosity, application method, and site allowance affect the actual quantity. Use the value on the correct product technical data sheet rather than assuming one figure for every paint.
